What would you do?

What would you do if you knew you couldn't "fail"?

Recently I’ve been reminded that so many amazing things in our lives come as a result of doing things differently, putting ourselves out there and failing a lot!

Yet, as we “grow up”, it’s like we get conditioned to do things the way we’ve always done them, to “stay safe”.

It’s strange when you think about it deeply – I do go deep sometimes to some of my loved ones’ joy or dismay depending on the situation lol!

Our evolution typically goes something like this:

>>> We’re born
>>> We’re sponges, we learn things very quickly
>>> We learn by trial and error, we learn by failing a lot

Then something happens along the way as we go from baby to toddler to child, teenager and young adult and beyond…

Even though failing a lot is what helped us grow, many of us over time get scared of failing.

We forget that’s how we learned and accomplished everything up to this point!

Like learning how to walk…. It’s by falling and getting up and rinsing and repeating over and over again that we finally were able to walk!

And, here we are as adults, having failed and learned a lot and succeeded a lot too that somehow we become so afraid of failing that we sometimes don’t want to try new things anymore.

But when we’re reminded of all of this, we often chalk it up to “knowing better”. We think we know how to avoid failure so we can succeed more.

THIS IS JUST OUR BRAIN TRYING TO KEEP US “SAFE” BUT IN THE PROCESS, IT OFTEN PREVENTS US FROM REACHING OUR FULL POTENTIAL

And so the question becomes:

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WEREN’T AFRAID TO “FAIL” OR GET REJECTED?

>>> Would you ask for a raise?
>>> Would you work for and ask for that promotion?
>>> Would you start looking for a new, more satisfying job?
>>> Would you start a new business?

Failure is A PART of success. The most successful people are also the ones that have usually failed the most.

They just didn’t give up.

They kept on trying and learning and growing until they got what they were striving for.

Is there any area in your life and career where you’re allowing fear to get in the way of moving towards your goals?

If so, I have very good news for you!

Allowing fear to stop you is optional, and fully within your control to turn around.

You just have to make a decision. This is where it starts.

What would you do today if you thought you couldn’t fail unless you gave up?

I’d love to know 🙂

P.S.:

“JUST DO IT” is a great mantra and marketing slogan but sometimes we need extra help.

This is one of the reasons a coach can be so helpful.

They can help push ourselves past our fears, lack of confidence, inability to see the blindspots that keep us stuck.

This is why I’ve had coaches and mentors to support me with my goals for years now.

Regardless of what your goals are, if they seem like a stretch right now, it’s because your brain and your belief in your ability to achieve them are not quite there yet.

Unravelling all of that and overcoming the exact pieces keeping you from achieving those goals is a gift you can give yourself today and I’d love to be of assistance as your coach.
