What if your age was a + for your job search?

I love playing the “what if” game and highly recommend it.

But only if you choose to use it in a way that serves you 🤪

And if you’re in mid to late career and you’re job searching and not getting the traction you’ve had in the past, playing this what-if game can be a game changer.

Here are some thought-starters:

🤔 What if your age was a huge competitive advantage in landing your best role yet?
💡What if your experience, positioned in a modern and compelling way left competing candidates in your dust?
🌟 What if it was possible at your age to secure a new role that felt so fulfilling and, made you look forward to Monday mornings for the rest of your career?

IT’S 100% POSSIBLE.

I see it every week in the work I do with mid to late-career clients.

But to make those what-ifs possible, you usually have to open yourself up to looking at things in a brand-new way.

Maybe….

  • The resume style you used just a few years ago makes you look “old” on paper (or like you’re not up with current trends and technology)
  • Your LinkedIn profile is dusty and, inadvertently makes you appear desperate or not on top of your professional brand and image
  • Your interview prep and performance are not up to speed and not dialed in to the specific results you deliver, as an expert in your field

If any of this resonates, you’re not alone!

I made these mistakes myself years ago and see countless very smart people make them too.

The good news is that it’s not too late to upgrade your professional brand and land interviews and offers for the role and compensation you want at this stage of life.

Take Lourdes for example.

She didn’t realize all the mistakes she was making in her late career job search that were keeping her stuck in a job where she was under-employed and underpaid!

Read what she had to say about age discrimination and how she landed her dream role in her 60’s!

“I was self-eliminating myself because of my age, and that my resume was missing the punchline. It wasn’t focused on my accomplishments. Long story short, I followed your tips and landed my dream job at Nestle. They even bumped up the pay above the top of the range. And I’m not in mid-career, mind you; it’s more like late career. I have underestimated the weight of what I had to offer and allowed my fear of ageism to hold me back. “

In her words:

She allowed fear of ageism to hold her back.

She self-eliminated because of her age.

Fortunately, she course-corrected and won her dream job as a result!

What if that was possible for you as well?
