That time when I got flown out of town for a New Year’s Eve interview

I get asked this question almost daily by professionals looking for a new role:

“Is now a good time to be looking for a new role”?

It doesn’t seem to matter what time of year it is, this question comes up over and over again.

And now, it comes up as we’re only 28 days away from American Thanksgiving and only 60 days away from December 25th!

And my answer always starts the same way:

Companies are hiring all the time.

They hire when someone leaves.

When someone retires.

When they’re having to let someone go who wasn’t performing or not a good fit.

They hire when they go through their strategic plans and realize they don’t have the people to execute them.

And I also love to share my true story from when I was laid off years ago and job searching for several months.

One company decided to fly me to their head office, in a different town, for a panel interview on New Year’s Eve!

Yes – I had a job interview on December 31st at 1 p.m. 🎉 🍾

That was the only day they had available for all the members of the panel to conduct the interview.

Here’s my questions to you…

❓ If you’re not feeling fulfilled with your current role, what’s the cost of putting your search on hold until 2024?

❓ If you’ve been laid off, what’s the upside of slowing down your job search right now?

Instead, you could continue or even ramp up your search and tap into opportunities while your competition is waiting until January 2024 to do so.

Staying in the game now gives you a tremendous edge

You get to build momentum and build your pipeline and can even land a new role before the stroke of midnight on December 31st.

And, I’d love to help you do this too.
