It’s not over

I spoke with several mid-career executives last week who were looking for new jobs…

Guess what 4 of them had in common?

They had quit their jobs, this year!

Without having a new one lined up 😮

Yes, the Great Resignation is real and it’s not over.

Experts are predicting that 1 in 5 people are planning on quitting their jobs in 2022, and that’s on top of the millions who already did last year.

There are many drivers for the trend, with people citing inadequate compensation, wanting more flexible work arrangements, and removing themselves from a toxic workplace, just to name a few.

Many people, especially in mid-career crave more fulfillment at work and better conditions and as many of them have told me: “life’s too short to not love what I do for 40+ hours a week!”

They moved away from roles that left them feeling empty, burnt out, and unappreciated, and are seeking roles that provide well financially and, bring in a renewed sense of purpose, fulfillment, and excitement for the work they do every day.

That’s certainly worth at least an exploration if not a complete career overhaul for some.
Yesterday, one of the “resigners” I spoke with last week told me she just got an amazing job offer! It was everything she had hoped for, and more! 🤩

Yet for some people, the Great Resignation is turning into the Great Regret 😔

This is why it’s important to do a deep dive into our motivations, before resigning.

We can then go in with eyes wide open and make decisions from a clean space, not a reactive one.

I’ve certainly made some bold moves in my career and they didn’t always turn out quite the way I had envisioned 🤨

I’m so grateful that each time I made a move, I worked with a coach to help me make my best decision.

I made a pact with myself ahead of time to never regret any decision. Best decision ever. Zero upside to not having my own back.

If you’re contemplating making a move or have already made one that’s not turning out the way you had hoped, working with a coach might help you determine your best-for-you path forward.
