Update your profile today with the following 5 steps and, make yourself more hireable for the role YOU WANT.
1- PHOTO:
– Have a professional photo of you (and only you) in your profile with a custom header.
– Don’t leave your profile with the default green header. Modernize your profile by customizing it.
– Check out Canva.com for free templates and search for “LinkedIn header templates”. Then customize to bring out your professional uniqueness.
2- HEADLINE:
– Those words right under your photo don’t have to be set to the default aka your current or last role.
– Instead, you can use your target role title, industry, and the top result you’re known for that’s a match for the role you want and get contacted more by recruiters searching for specific talent on LinkedIn.
3- ABOUT SECTION:
– MAXIMIZE IT. You have 2600 characters here. Optimize that section to showcase the top results you’re known for, that are in demand for the role you want.
– Make it visually appealing with bullets (you can use bullet emojis ✅) and line breaks, no long paragraphs!
4- SKILLS:
– LinkedIn now allows you to showcase up to 100 skills. Use them.
– Study what skills are in demand for the type of role you want and make sure your profile includes them.
5- BE ACTIVE:
– If you’re active on LinkedIn and looking for a new role, your profile is likely to be shown to more people looking for candidates like you.
– Do the things active job seekers do on LinkedIn and watch your views go way up 👀
