You have the experience. So what’s missing?

There was a time when people came to you for advice.

Colleagues wanted your perspective. Leaders trusted your judgment. People sought you out because they knew you could solve problems and get results.

Then your job search started.

And suddenly, you’re applying for roles you know you can do… and hearing nothing back.

It’s frustrating because the experience is there.

The qualifications are there.

In many cases, you’ve done more than what the role requires.

So what happened?

Most professionals assume they need more credentials, more networking, or more applications.

But often, the real issue is something I call the Relevance Gap.

You have the experience employers want, but your resume, LinkedIn profile, and overall positioning aren’t making that obvious enough for busy hiring managers to see.

And that’s a bigger problem than most people realize.

Hiring managers aren’t spending 30 minutes studying your background and connecting the dots. They’re scanning hundreds of resumes looking for the clearest match.

If they have to work to figure out why you’re qualified, you’ve already made their job harder.

And unfortunately, that means they often move on.

This is especially common among experienced professionals.

After 15, 20, or 25 years of experience, you’ve accumulated accomplishments across different roles, companies, industries, and projects. The challenge isn’t a lack of experience.

It’s making the right experience stand out for the role you want next.

I recently recorded a short training that breaks down:

• What the Relevance Gap is

• Why it’s costing qualified professionals interviews

• The three places it shows up most often

• How to start closing it

If you’ve been applying for roles that seem like a strong fit and wondering why you’re not getting traction, I think you’ll find it helpful.
