Would you train for a marathon alone?

Many mid-career professionals tell me, “I’ll try job searching on my own first.”

I get it.

As successful professionals, we’re used to figuring things out ourselves.

But let me tell you a story…

Years ago, I ran a marathon (ok, this was many moons ago but still feels fresh in my mind lol)

I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to run 26.2 miles.

I trained for an entire year – with a running coach and a team to guide and support me.

Could I have trained alone? Maybe.

Would I have known the best techniques? Pushed myself enough? Stayed consistent with my training? Avoided injury?

Probably not. While running seems very simple, completing a marathon is another story – for the average human certainly 🙂

And it’s the same with job searching.

With the DIY method of job searching, most professionals waste months (or even years) finding a new, amazing role.

They constantly tweak their resumes, and hope for the best… without knowing if they’re using the right strategy.

Without expert guidance, they…

Apply to jobs and never hear back.

Second-guess their LinkedIn profile and activity.

End up wasting a lot of time and energy, feel stuck, frustrated, and unsure of what to change.

Just like marathon training, job searching isn’t just about effortit’s about:

Strategy. A proven game plan. Execution.

And it’s a lot easier and even more fun when you stop doing It alone.

Successful professionals have coaches. They don’t always talk about it.

But it’s a key strategy to speed up success and minimize effort.

If you’re tired of running around in circles with your job search and are ready for a proven strategy that gets you hired faster, let’s talk.

P.S.: here’s me (like I said, many moons ago) just a few steps from the finish line of my first and only marathon. I started it with a couple of running friends but decided to pick up the pace in the second half. The coaching and training were totally worth it!
