Letting go

Ever feel like the harder you push in your job search, the less traction you get? (this applies to a lot of things in life too but for the purpose of today’s note, we’ll focus on how it applies to looking for a new role)

It can be frustrating—getting your resume and LinkedIn profile ready, sending out applications, waiting for responses, and wondering if anyone will ever get back to you.

It’s exhausting.

But here’s something that shifts everything:

Letting go of attachment to the outcome.

When you’re not hyper-focused on who will respond, which company will interview you, or when the perfect offer will arrive, you actually show up with more confidence and ease.

And when you do that?

You take more action, gain access to more opportunities, and get better results—faster.

It can be a process to start to shift into this mindset and way of showing up in your job search.

Here’s how you can begin:

1- Detach from the outcome:

Submit applications and reach out to connections without fixating on a specific outcome or responses.

This doesn’t mean that you don’t do your best to customize your application or send thoughtful messages to connect.

It means you do your best, and then let go of what comes next.

It’s not in your control anyway.

It feels way different when you do this, it brings a completely lighter energy to your entire job search.

2- Stay in motion.

Keep networking, applying, and following up—without waiting for one specific opportunity to pan out.

I realize this can be quite difficult, especially when you move forward with multiple interviews with a company you’d love to work for.

You can see yourself in the role, making an impact and loving your job.

But staying in motion ensures that, no matter what happens, you have a constant stream of opportunities.

3- Trust the process

When you’re in flow, opportunities find you more naturally.

The job search becomes so much easier when you’re not gripping every step tightly.

And ironically?

That’s when things start happening for you.

Keep moving forward—it’s all unfolding in your favor 🙂
