After I was laid off, everyone said the same thing:
“Make sure your LinkedIn is updated.”
“You need to be visible.”
So I did.
I changed my headline.
Added a new photo.
Rewrote my summary.
And then I waited…
Weeks went by.
No recruiter messages.
No interview requests.
Nothing.
I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong.
My profile looked good.
It was current. It was professional.
But it wasn’t working.
Here’s what I eventually learned:
Updating your LinkedIn once isn’t the same as being visible.
You need the right keywords, headline, about section and skills in all the right places so recruiters can actually find you.
You need to show up consistently, not just post once and disappear.
Without that?
You’re just… there.
When I finally fixed my approach, recruiters started reaching out.
I stopped feeling invisible.
If you’ve updated your LinkedIn and still nothing’s happening…
That might be the problem.
👉 Let’s figure out what’s missing.
